9. St. Anastasia Island
For those who want to add a little adventure to their Eurovision trip, St. Anastasia Island is one of the most interesting options near Burgas.
St. Anastasia Island is one of the most romantic places along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. The island is shrouded in mystery and surrounded by hundreds of legends and stories. It was once home to a monastery and, for a period of time, was also used as a prison. The island covers nearly nine decares, or around 0.9 hectares, and is located 6 kilometres from the mainland.
Today, the island offers visitors a seafood restaurant called “100 Years Back”, a café-pharmacy, a small amphitheatre, a museum telling the island's story, as well as a small beach. For visitors who want to enjoy the island's romantic atmosphere for more than a day, overnight accommodation is also available.
The island can be reached by the two municipal catamarans - Burgus and Anastasia, which operate regular services from Magazia 1 at the Port of Burgas.
10. Chengene Skele
Fishing boats, stories of the sea and centuries-old traditions - a place that reveals a different and truly authentic side of Burgas.
The Chengene Skele Cultural and Tourist Complex is located next to the fishing village of the same name, 15 kilometres from Burgas. Its main mission is to promote fishing crafts and traditions.
The complex features exhibition houses that tell the story of local fishermen. Visitors can see anchors, oars, fishing nets, small fishing tools and other objects, as well as watch demonstrations of traditional fishing crafts, such as net-making.
The complex also includes a sailor's café-club, a restaurant, a multifunctional hall for exhibitions and events, a park area and a children's playground. The new marina can also be reached by boat.
11. Strandzha
Strandzha is a mountain range with a history stretching back thousands of years, preserving in its lands and spiritual heritage the legacy of several civilisations.
Just a short distance from the city, another world begins. Strandzha offers nature, small villages, local traditions and yet another reason for tourists to extend their stay.
12. Burgas
The final point actually brings all the others together. You may come because of “Eurovision” - to see the stage, hear the songs and cheer for your favourite performer.
